At The Laundry Truck LA, we proudly stand as one of the first mobile laundry services in the world dedicated to serving individuals experiencing homelessness and our neighbors in need. We believe that providing laundry services is a crucial first step toward restoring dignity, enhancing mental health, and improving hygiene for our local unhoused community.
Since 2019, we have completed over 700,000+ lbs of laundry, striving to uplift day-to-day livelihoods, create employment opportunities, and support school attendance. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those we serve, fostering hope and
renewal in our community.

Timeline

2004
Jodie Dolan founded DOLAN, a Los Angeles based clothing brand rooted in thoughtful design, quality, and everyday wear.
2017
While volunteering with mobile shower services, Jodie saw guests leave clean showers and return to dirty clothes. That moment sparked the idea for a mobile laundry truck.
2019
The Laundry Truck LA officially began serving the community, providing free laundry services to unhoused individuals and families in Los Angeles.
2020
The mission gained wider recognition as The Laundry Truck LA continued serving during a critical time for the city, proving that laundry is not a luxury. It is a basic human need.
2023
The Laundry Truck LA expanded its reach with a third truck, allowing the organization to serve more families, students, and communities across Los Angeles.
2024
The organization continued building partnerships with local schools and service providers, helping students and families access clean clothing with dignity.
2025
The Laundry Truck LA added a fourth mobile laundry trailer and extended support to wildfire impacted communities, providing daily free laundry services during a time of urgent need.
Today
With more than 700,000 pounds of laundry washed, The Laundry Truck continues to provide free laundry services, dignity, and care to communities across Los Angeles.

HOW ONE SIMPLE IDEA BECAME A MOBILE LAUNDRY MOVEMENT.

Origin of The Truck

The idea for The Laundry Truck LA came from a gap that was impossible to ignore.
Across Los Angeles, many people experiencing homelessness could access food, showers, and basic outreach services, but laundry remained one of the hardest needs to meet. Without clean clothes, even the simple act of taking a shower could feel unfinished.
Jodie saw that clean clothing was tied to something much deeper than hygiene. It was tied to self-worth. It helped people feel seen. It helped children attend school with more confidence. It helped adults feel prepared for appointments, work opportunities, and daily life.
So the question became simple: if people could not easily get to laundry, what if laundry could come to them?
That question became a truck. Then a service. Then a movement.
The Laundry Truck LA was created to bring free, mobile laundry services directly into the communities that need them most. Every wash, dry, and fold is an act of care. Every clean load is a reminder that dignity should never be out of reach.
